Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

This policy covers merqapp.com, including the web app, shared clips, Creator Center, and Studio. Cookies are small files stored by a browser. Similar technologies include local storage and IndexedDB.

Essential storage

Firebase Authentication uses browser storage, including IndexedDB or local storage depending on browser support, to keep you signed in. This can contain your account identifier and authentication tokens; it is not advertising storage. Sign out to end your session. Browser settings let you clear stored data; doing so may sign you out.

We store merq_privacy_preferences_v1 locally to remember your choices. It contains two choices, a policy version, and the time you saved them, without an account identifier. We honor it for 180 days, then ask again; the browser may retain the expired record until it is replaced or you clear it. This storage is needed to respect your choices.

Optional analytics and personalization

Both are off by default. With usage analytics enabled, the signed-in web app writes session counts and time spent to Firebase under your account ID. With personalization enabled, it records clip IDs, creator IDs, game and hashtag information, interaction types, impressions, and limited viewing-time signals for recommendations. These records are stored on our servers rather than in analytics cookies. Rejecting them does not stop sign-in, clips, likes, saves, chat, or other features you request. Recommendations can still use the games you explicitly select and accounts you follow.

The website does not currently initialize Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site marketing trackers. Mobile app Analytics and Crashlytics are separate from these website controls.

Third-party services and media

Firebase provides authentication, database, file storage, and backend functions. Vercel hosts the site and may process connection and security logs. Agora delivers live audio and video when you choose to watch a live stream or start a broadcast; this involves network and device information needed to deliver the requested stream. Studio asks for browser permission before using your camera, microphone, or screen. When you request a website payment protection check, Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise may use security cookies and browser, device and network signals to prevent abuse. It is separate from optional analytics and does not itself take payment. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. No third-party iframe players are currently embedded. Links to Apple or other outside sites are governed by those sites once you follow them.

Change or withdraw your choice

Use the “Privacy choices” control available on every page. You can reject optional processing as easily as accepting it. Changes stop new optional collection in this browser; they do not erase existing server records. For deletion requests, contact support@merqapp.com. Choices apply to this browser, so set them on each device. We also keep optional processing off when Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is enabled.

Read the Privacy Policy for your information rights, retention, and contact details.
